King David was horrified, ashamed and completely broken by what he had done. How could he have committed adultery with Bathsheba? Why couldn’t he have controlled his own desires?

The gravity of his sin weighed heavily on him - David knew his heart wasn’t pure. It had birthed sinful desires that he couldn’t control. His spirit and character wasn’t steadfast - if it was, he wouldn’t have compromised on his values.

Hence, he pleaded:

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬

God has compassion on us when we struggle with our sinful desires. He sees how hard we try to be obedient, to walk in the right paths and to be holy.

It’s not always easy, and more often than not, we fall short of His commands - but when that happens, may we not despair, but sing the song that David sang in Psalm 51.

Let us follow the example of David and pray that God would give us a clean and pure heart, and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Beloved Child of God, that is our prayer for you today!

May the designs by @findingjoy_ encourage us that we are made pure by Him alone!
