Faith Hope Love | Short Sermon Series
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
~1 Corinthians 13:13
Love may often be interpreted as emotions and feelings. However, love is more than that. It is also a set of intentional actions, encompassing patience, kindness, forbearance, forgiveness and more.
So if we were to take some time and imagine all that in our family, where everyone is patient, kind, forgiving and never keeping a record of wrong. Wouldn’t that be a perfect family?
Easier said than done, we are all flawed and it seems impossible to be a ‘perfect’ family. But is it impossible to be patient, kind, forgiving and never keeping a record of each other’s wrong? It isn’t, as God has built into each of us the God-given ability to be kind, and forebear. We just have to be willing and find it within.
Why is love the greatest amongst the three things that remain? To answer simply, it is the greatest as it is what demonstrates God in us.
Love also stems the abundant love that we have received from God and our trust in Him. Serving as a form of gratitude, in living a life pleasing to Him. We can see what He has done for us, and we trust in what lies ahead.
God has been kind to us and His love fuels our assurance that He always will be. So, like how he is patient with us, we too can be patient with others!
It is a blessing to be part of a family from God. Although it may not be perfect, we have a part to play, to create it, and make a change! Because His great love is in us, we see His wonders at work and we can display His love through our lives. Love is the call given to us and we are not alone in this! So, what’s stopping us? Love each other!
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I accept Your Word as the truth. I believe Your Word that says that I am made in Your image. If You are love, it means that I am love too. From today, I commit to loving my family members. Amen
