The first disciples were called to follow Jesus as they were fishing.
“And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”” Matthew 4:19
Immediately, the disciples left their nets and followed Jesus.
This was a remarkable display of faith - the disciples were leaving their livelihoods, all they had ever known to be able to sustain their lives.
But with one call from Jesus, they were willing to leave it all and follow Him. Perhaps they were intrigued, or perhaps there was something special about Jesus that compelled them to go.
Regardless, it was a decision that was not wasted. Following Jesus shaped and moulded their hearts like nothing else could. They were privy to the secrets of God, and experienced His deep love for them every single day.
Out of the overflow of that love, they were able to minister and become “fishers of men” - bringing the love of Christ to all they crossed paths with.
How about us? Are we willing to heed the call of Jesus to be fishers of men? Will we lay down our lives and livelihoods to follow the call that God has on our lives?
It is our prayer for you today that you would have the courage and conviction to live a life that pleases and delights the Lord. For there is no better life path than the one that follows after Christ.
May the designs by @susannelowillustration compel us to live a life unto the Lord!
