If I should count them | Short Sermon Series

If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand:

when I awake, I am still with thee.

~Psalm 139:18

How blessed we are to have a Father who thinks of us.

How comforting it is to wake up daily to know we are with our Father.

How precious that our Father should think of us at all.

Whenever you visit the beach, do you sometimes wonder just how many grains of sand there are? It is no doubt an impossible task, but David uses this powerful yet beautiful illustration to show us that as numberless as the sand, so are God’s thoughts for us. Whether when we are awake or asleep, our God is still the same.

Although we may sometimes get lost in our slumber, He has not forgotten us. So even when everything in life is overwhelming, know that His presence in our lives is never interrupted, and that He is still surrounding us with His love.

Since we know that He has promised to be with us, may we also learn from David. To meditate on God’s attributes, to seek Him unceasingly, and to reflect on His word and works daily. For He cares for you so dearly!
