“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.” Romans 8:38

As broken people, we all have a fear of rejection, be it from friends, family or even strangers. It is this fear of rejection that causes us to put up a front that all is well. It causes us to strive for greatness – to achieve great results in school, or to progress far in our careers. All so that the world and society will approve of us.

The thing is, we often carry this fear of rejection to our spiritual lives as well. If we fear rejection from man, all the more would we fear rejection from God. We see this fear of rejection from the very moment humanity sinned against God in the garden of Eden. Right after Adam and Eve sinned, they hid from God, fearing the condemnation He would bring to them.

Is this how you relate to God sometimes? Fearing that He will no longer love you after you do something seemingly unlovable, or fearing in times of trial that He has abandoned you? If so, may Romans 8:38 break this cycle of thinking. Would you come to know and truly believe in the depths of your soul that nothing will ever separate you from the love of God. Even when the world turns against you, God will still be there to welcome you with open arms. You can rest easy in the knowledge that your God is for you, and will always be.
