Sheep of His Pastures | Short Sermon
What is your identity based on? Is it your job title, your role in your family, or perhaps the quality of your friendships?
These things do give us a sense of identity, but we must still remember that they are temporary. To base who we are off what others say of us, or what we do, is to build our house on quicksand. It is an unstable foundation.
Ps 100:3 reminds us “Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”
We weren’t made primarily to love a certain person, or to be loved by someone else, or to even do a specific thing. At the root of it all, we were made by God, to be loved by God, and, after experiencing the depth of His love, to love Him too.
That is what our identity should be based on - the unending, unshaking, unfailing love of God.
We are His creation! We are His people! We pray that this fact would sink deep into your heart today - you were made by God, to be loved by Him. You are the sheep He gathers into His arms and loves with all of His heart.
May the designs by @susannelowillustrations encourage us to remember our identity, that we are a sheep and He is our Shepherd!
