Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you | Short Sermon Series
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Have you ever been so worried and anxious about something that it weighed heavily on your mind almost constantly until the event passed? It might have been an important presentation at work, a final exam at school, or even financial troubles. There are many things in our lives that can cause us to feel deeply worried and cause us to lose our peace of mind.
But what we are actually doing when we dwell on these problems is to hold the problem so close to our eyes that our vision is completely blocked, and we see nothing but the great mountain that is in front of us. When all we can see are the troubles in our lives, it can be very overwhelming, and this is what causes our peace to be stolen. So how might we feel less anxious?
Try holding the problem a little further from your eyes. As you allow your field of vision to expand, you will see Jesus standing before you with an outstretched arm. “Pass all your anxieties to me,” He says, “because I care for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
If we fix our eyes on our problems, we fail to see the loving Father standing before us and urging us to let Him help. But as we remind ourselves of the promises and the love of God – that He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deut 31:8), and that His peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:6) - we will be able to see God in complete control of our situations, and replace our anxiety with peace, and our worry with praise.
Dear TCCo family, we are praying for you today that you would accept these promises for yourself, and cast your anxieties on the Lord, for He cares deeply for you!
