Express Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself | Short Sermon Series
Many of us want to believe God - to believe He’s a good good Father, that He cares for us and hears us. But maybe the question is really “do we know God”? Especially in times that are tough, do we really know His heart for us?
In such times, we can look to Job in the Bible. When we look at Job based on His circumstances, it looked like God didn’t really care for him. He lost more in a brief moment than many of us will in our lifetime. If anyone had a reason to dislike God, Job did. But still, Job continued to seek and serve God, and we should too.
From Job’s story, we see a God who isn’t someone who will shy away from people who want answers. Sometimes when we’re hurting, we think “if You’re so merciful, where’s Your mercy? If You’re so good, where’s Your goodness?” But in those moments, we often miss out that God’s heart was hurting too. He was broken too. We always hear amazing things about God but many times, we forget that God feels - He feels our pain, hears our doubts and knows our worries.
Even if you’re broken, express yourself in your own way to God and let God know how much you believe (or don’t believe). You may feel broken or defeated now, but we’re encouraging you to turn to Jesus. In the end, He’ll always exceed your expectation anyway. The book of Job ended with him having twice as much as before and he lived a long life when all seemed lost at one point.
Talk to God and express yourself before you wreck yourself. He is the way maker and miracle worker. All we need to do is turn to Him and allow Him to do work His miracles!
