God With Us: The Humility and Love of Jesus | Short Sermon Series
Could you imagine the God of the universe leaving His place of glory and coming down to become one with His creation?
Jesus was born in a manger, a food trough for animals. He was born quietly in the middle of the night, in a barn filled with animals. There was no grand procession to celebrate His arrival and He didn’t even have a proper bed!
Jesus’s coming into the world was humbler than many of our own birth stories. And for that to be the case for the Son of God is mind-boggling indeed.
Why would God subject Himself to such an ordeal? An ordeal that consisted not just of the incredible humility of His arrival, but also the hard work of His ministry and His painful death on the cross.
He did all of it because He loved us.
He loved us so much, He desired to step into our shoes, to experience the human condition and all the brokenness that sin would bring about.
When God says He is with us, He is truly, truly with us. Not in an abstract, sitting on His throne in Heaven kind of a way, but in a -
with us as we sob uncontrollably -
with us when our hearts threaten to beat out of our chests -
with us in the dirt and muck of life -
kind of way.
God is with you, in every single way.
We pray that this truth brings comfort to you today.
