The root of heartbreak and betrayal is usually a broken promise - something has changed, be it someone’s desires, or their affections.
As we continue through life, we will realise that Man’s feelings come and go. To place all our trust and hope in someone’s word is always a risk we take. There is no certainty that Man will fulfil their promises.
What, or who then can we place our hopes on?
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-26 ESV
People change, and our circumstances will change constantly. God knows this, and He knows it’s not good for us to struggle in the sea of life, helpless against the wind or waves that will come.
That’s why He’s provided us Himself - to be an anchor, a steadfast rock we can always, always rely on.
We are completely safe and secure in God’s love. And the blessed assurance we have is that no matter how hard we fall, no matter what height we fall from - we will always, always fall into the arms of our loving Father. We will always be caught by His love. There is no doubt about that, no maybes. His love is sure, certain, unchanging. His love is now, not something we hope for, but something we know.
Man’s feelings come and go, but God’s love for us does not. Thank God for that blessed assurance.
