Growing In Christ | Short Sermon Series
When we plant a seed, we cannot expect it to immediately grow. The same idea applies to our walk with God. Just as a seed needs tender, loving care in the form of adequate water and sunlight to grow, growing in Christ-likeness requires intentionality, commitment, and care. It is a process that cannot be rushed.
As we enter daily into the presence of God and set aside time to listen to His voice, we become more rooted in the love of Christ. Like a tree with deep roots, we will not be easily swayed by the storms of life. No matter how hard the wind blows, we will remain steadfast in our faith.
In the parable of the wise and foolish builders, Jesus reminds us that a house built on the rock will not fall, but a house built on sand comes crashing down once the winds blow against it (Matt 7:24-27).
Jesus is the solid rock upon which we should plant ourselves firmly. When life gets hard and it seems like we are in the midst of the storm, Jesus is the one who holds us tight and keeps us safe.
Let us commit to adopting the same intentionality it takes to grow a plant to our walks with God. Nourish your soul with the word of God and by giving yourself space to listen to Him. Fertilise your soul with a Christian community that cares for you. Be intentional and soon you will see the fruit of the Spirit growing in all areas of your life!
