A teacher once told my class as we prepared for our major exam, “If you don’t finish this set of practice questions by the end of the month, I’m afraid you might have missed the bus to an ‘A’.” His statement worried me, and with each passing day, I grew fearful that I would “miss the bus” to a good grade. I shared my fears with a friend, and her response would stick with me for years to come, “It’s okay if you miss the bus – you can always fly there on the wings of God!”.

It was a striking reminder to me that my God was not limited by human timelines, inadequacies or weaknesses.

2 Peter 3:8-9 says that “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

The Lord operates outside our human timeline, reigning sovereign over all Creation. It may seem like you have missed an opportunity or like you are running out of time. But let this be your encouragement today that God is still working in you. You haven’t messed up His plans for your life, and even if you miss the bus, you can always fly to your destination on the wing’s of your loving Heavenly Father.
