Storms in your life are a given, as is news that feels like an earthquake, shaking and upending your world.
What then can we cling on to if every foundation we build our lives upon is shaky?
A familiar hymn goes - on Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.
There is no firm foundation in this life but Christ. That is a sure and steadfast truth.
If we build our lives upon worldly success, upon the approval of others, or even upon curating the perfect family and most comfortable life - all these things can be shaken in an instant and come crumbling down.
We need a hope that can withstand the deepest of tragedies and darkest of nights.
“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Psalm 61:2
The rock that is higher than the worst circumstances we can ever face is Christ Himself.
He is the One who rescued us from sin and gave us the promise of eternal life. This world will pass away, but those who are held tightly in the arms of Christ will see new life, where suffering and tears are no more.
That is the sure and steadfast hope we cling to, that nothing can ever take away. Praise God for His goodness to us!
May the designs by @jarfulofplenty remind us that when everything falls apart, He is that firm and steady One that never fails us!
