Why we can worship when things aren't great

 

 

Here’s why we can worship even when things aren’t great: we have an awesome God and we can trust His lovingkindness to prevail and we will triumph and overcome through Him.

 

 

 

 

Even David, the beloved psalmist of Israel, went through this. In times of fear, discouragement or heartbreak, David worshipped the Lord and He healed David and turned His situations around.

 

 

 

 

 

At one of the lowest points of David’s life, He hid in a cave after faking madness in front of another king to protect himself. He sang, “I sought the Lord, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears.” (Ps 34:4) and he was so assured of the Lord’s goodness by the end that he sings, “The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.” (Ps 34:17)

 

 

 

 

 

Through this episode in the cave, 400 distressed men in the cave saw David restored and renewed with hope, and they too were restored. They later became David’s mighty men, who did great exploits!

 

 

 

 

 

It’s not about how WE worship the Lord, but simply as we behold and magnify His goodness, beauty, power and compassion, the problems in life suddenly seem so small in comparison. Faith arises and we dare to believe once again!
