Jesus, Our High Priest - A inspirational short sermon series by The Commandment Co
Let’s be honest, we are not perfect. But we ARE found in Jesus! Jesus is our High Priest who represents us before God.
It only matters how good the High Priest is, and today, Jesus is our High Priest, in the presence of God for us
While a prophet represents God to the nation, a high priest represents the nation to God. In the Old Testament, the High Priest of Israel represented the nation before God. It didn’t matter how good and obedient the people were, it only mattered how good the high priest was. And today, Jesus is our High Priest, in the presence of God for us.
For Christ has not entered the holy places made with hands,, which are copies of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us ~ Hebrews 9:24 - Encouraging short sermon series by The Commandment Co
Jesus is now seated at the Father’s right hand for us (Heb 9:24). Though He is the Son of God, Jesus sat down as a man, as our High Priest, because he had completed purging our sins (Heb 1:3). The priests of the Old Testament were always standing because they could never fully atone for the nation.
When he had by himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high ~ Hebrews 1:3 - Motivational short sermon series by The Commandment Co: Jesus, our high priest
If all our sins Had not been atoned for, Jesus would not have sat down. So let’s make a conscious effort to remember that Jesus has paid the price for all our sins, and we can now boldly approach God’s throne of grace to receive mercy and grace for our needs!
Therefore, since we have a great High Priest who has ascended into Heaven, Jesus the Son of God, Let us hold firmly to the faith we profess... Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need ~ Hebrews 4:14-16
