Jesus, our High Priest | Short Sermon Series
Let’s be honest, we are not perfect. But we ARE found in Jesus! Jesus is our High Priest who represents us before God.
While a prophet represents God to the nation, a high priest represents the nation to God. In the Old Testament, the High Priest of Israel represented the nation before God. It didn’t matter how good and obedient the people were, it only mattered how good the high priest was. And today, Jesus is our High Priest, in the presence of God for us.
Jesus is now seated at the Father’s right hand for us (Heb 9:24). Though He is the Son of God, Jesus sat down as a man, as our High Priest, because he had completed purging our sins (Heb 1:3). The priests of the Old Testament were always standing because they could never fully atone for the nation.
If all our sins Had not been atoned for, Jesus would not have sat down. So let’s make a conscious effort to remember that Jesus has paid the price for all our sins, and we can now boldly approach God’s throne of grace to receive mercy and grace for our needs!
