Power of His Might | Short Sermon Series
Anyone who wears glasses knows the importance of having the right lenses. A degree too high or too low will make it difficult for the wearer to see. Likewise, when we go about our day, if we want to see beyond the physical world, we need to put on our spiritual lenses to perceive that there are spiritual powers at work around us.
Paul rightly points out that “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against… the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Eph 6:21
Many of the temptations that assail us from day to day cannot purely be fought with our own human strength. They require a power beyond us – a power only God can provide. And that is why Paul closes his letter to the Ephesians with the call to “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” (Eph 6:10).
Perhaps you may be facing trials and temptations that seem too great for you to overcome. The good news is that God doesn’t expect you to win the battle on your own – He’s extended His hand and offered you His power. Would you choose this day to fight with the Lord’s power, instead of struggling to control it all on your own?
