Roaming the Woods | Short Sermon Series
“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” Psalm 23:6
No matter where we go – whether high up on a mountain, deep in the woods, or to the ends of the earth – God’s goodness and love follows and chases after us! We are provided this assurance in Psalm 23, where David doesn’t hypothesize or wonder about whether God’s love will follow him, he KNOWS that it will, and he claims this promise confidently.
David also repeats this again in Psalm 139, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
If anything, these few verses from David’s psalms should provide us with immense comfort. God loves us so much that His love CHASES after us! We cannot run from it, and neither should we want to.
The next time you feel like you’re struggling to feel God’s presence, remember this: He is always with you – in fact, His love and goodness chases after you. You are never alone, He will never leave you nor forsake you. And we pray today that this assurance will bring you immense peace.
