Faith is… | Short Sermon Series

We were made to be in relationship with God – to walk this life hand in hand with Him. One way God desires for us to grow in intimacy with Him is through the development of our faith.

As Hebrews 11:1 famously explains it, “Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”. In context, having faith in God means to be confident that He will keep His promises to us, and assured that it will come to pass, even though we do not see it yet!

Can you say that you are confident that God will take care of you? And assured that His plans for your life are good?

Many of us know this in our heads, but it hasn’t fully translated into our hearts. Imagine for a second that you were truly confident and assured that God would take care of you – what peace that would bring to your anxious heart!

That state of complete dependence and complete trust is exactly the place God wants you to be. Such deep faith may not happen instantly, but over time as you keep exercising your faith, and seeing God really come through for you time and time again.

He is worthy of our faith, our confidence, and assurance – He’s proved it in the Bible, proved it through Jesus, and proved it in the little blessings and miracles in your life. So, take courage, dear friend, and trust Him with all your cares. He is faithful.
