God’s Power | Short Sermon Series
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”
Psalm 8:3-4
Pause your scrolling and look up at the sky! Look at the trees, the birds, and even your own hands and feet. All of creation was lovingly and carefully crafted by our Heavenly Father. Truly, our God is great, mighty and more powerful than we will ever be able to imagine!
As the Psalmist in Psalm 8 proclaims the greatness of God, he also brings to mind an important question - “what is man that you are mindful of him?”. Humanity, even with all its brilliance and technological advancements, will never come close to comparing with God. In fact, all the progress we have made in this world has been graciously given to us by God – we have done nothing on our own! So why does this supremely powerful God still care for us? Why does He painstakingly and patiently walk with us and look out for us generation to generation?
Simply because the most powerful being in the universe loves us so much that we will never, ever, comprehend it. We do not know why God loves us, but that is the nature of His love – radical, selfless, unconditional, and unfathomable.
The leaves, flowers, rain, birds, and all of Creation proclaim God’s wondrous power. But they also proclaim God’s incredible love towards us. We are not worthy to experience the beauty of Creation, yet God bestows it upon us day after day as we watch the multi-coloured sunrise, and the twinkling stars in the night sky. Praise be to God, for He loves us so well!
