“But Joseph said to them, ‘Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” Genesis 50:19-20

Joseph’s life was filled with many ups and downs. He was sold by his brothers to be a slave, he rose up the ranks and became Pharaoh’s right-hand man, he was framed by Pharaoh’s wife for sleeping with her, he was thrown into prison, he was called out of prison to interpret Pharaoh’s dreams and ultimately given authority to take charge of the whole palace, becoming prosperous and successful.

There is no way that Joseph could have known how exactly his life would turn out. When he was sold as a slave and when he was thrown into prison, it must have been especially hard to trust that his life was not over. While it must have felt like it was the ending, God knew that it would merely be a chapter in the greater, grander plan He had for Joseph’s life. And it was! In God’s time, Joseph’s life was restored, he was reunited with his family and he was greatly blessed.

Perhaps you might be facing a hopeless situation and it feels like all hope is lost, and no good can come out of your circumstance. Take heart and trust in the goodness of your Father. There is a time and place for everything, a season for everything under the sun. After a winter of pain and suffering comes spring, which ushers in renewal and hope for new life. Though you may not understand the current chapter you are in, lean not on your own understanding, but trust that God is using your broken seasons to weave together a beautiful story. He will surely redeem your pain, so don’t give up hope. Wait for the Lord, He’s still working in your waiting and in your pain.

May this inspire you for the many more chapters to come! Designs by Lacy Tatum @smallhoursshop today. Now available in tote bags and for print both in-store and online!
