“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” Proverbs 31:25
Proverbs 31 speaks of the wife of noble character. Through the chapter, we see the fruitfulness of her life, and how she lives each moment with great intention and purpose. We are also told that what sets her apart is her strength and dignity – this strength is not so much physical prowess, but a gentle, quiet inner strength that comes from a heart rooted in God. The dignity she holds also allows her to carry herself with grace and integrity, reflecting the image of her heavenly Father. Her words are seasoned with wisdom, her actions are guided by righteousness, and her conduct shines with humility.
The product of living her life with a spirit deeply dependent on God is that she is now also able to face the future head-on, without any semblance of fear. She responds to the uncertainties of life with a steadfast trust in her Father that allows her soul to continue bubbling up with joy!
Don’t we all wish we could be the Proverbs 31 wife? Well, know that the woman described is not an unattainable ideal, but a reflection of what God can do in and through us.
So live each day in step with the Father, and put on the clothes of strength and dignity every morning. Only then will we be able to face each day with unwavering faith, confident that He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion!
