your story doesn’t end in mediocracy or defeat - Encouraging short sermons and devotionals compiled by The Commandment Co

No matter what, your story doesn’t end in mediocracy or defeat.

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring[a] and hers; he will crush[b] your head, and you will strike his heel.” Genesis 3:15 - Encouraging short sermons and devotionals compiled by The Commandment Co

When Adam and Eve got tricked into eating the fruit (Gen. 3), God was saying to Eve, ‘don’t worry, I’ll make this serpent pay’. The offspring that will crush the serpent’s head was a promise God put in Eve’s heart. So when she was pregnant, she was excited to see the promise fulfilled, only to the disappointment that it would not as Eve lost both sons at once. It seemed as though her promise was lost, but God was still saying ‘it doesn’t end like this’. The enemy may be laughing now, but restoration is coming. For all that you’ve lost, God still has more for you. Eve gave birth once again to a son, named Seth (Gen. 4), and from Seth’s line came Jesus. For all that you’ve lost, God still has more for you!

It may seem like your promise is lost, but God says “this is not the way your story ends” - Encouraging short sermons and devotionals compiled by The Commandment Co

But again, Jesus was taken away. All of hell cheered when Jesus died, they thought it was over! But Jesus’ blood is still speaking today, like Cain’s blood whose blood cried out to God (Gen 4:10). In hell, they were celebrating but then someone named Jesus walked in and put the party on hold. Jesus said “It’s not over, I’m still alive” and He defeated Satan and put fulfilled the promise to Eve. The serpent’s head was crushed and death was under his feet.

Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2:15 - Encouraging short sermons and devotionals compiled by The Commandment Co

Because He lives, we can live today. The same power lives in us, and there is nothing too powerful for Him. Your story won’t end in mediocrity and defeat. It ends with you bruising the serpent’s head. It ends with you VICTORIOUS!
