As water reflects the face, so one life reflects the heart | Short Sermon Series
“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” Proverbs 27:19
Knowing the condition of our hearts doesn’t have to be an abstract task. Doing so is similar to knowing the condition of a tree 🌳.
How do you know if a tree is a healthy one? You look at whether it bears any fruit , and whether the quality of the fruit is good!
Likewise, we will know the condition of our hearts through the fruit produced in our lives. Are we patient with others or do we get irritable when things aren’t done fast enough? Do we lash out in anger or are we able to control our emotions and actions? 🤔 All the external fruit of our lives point to something deeper - the health of our hearts ❤️.
So how do we ensure a healthy heart that can produce good fruit? Jesus gave us the answer in John 15:5 - “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Abiding, remaining with Jesus - that’s the key to a fruitful life!
You might have noticed that the more we spend time with someone, the more we tend to grow to pick up their mannerisms. If we want to grow to be fruitful, just like Jesus, we need to spend more time with Him. So schedule this time into your day - sit and read His word, worship Him through songs of praise, or just simply pause and give Him the space to speak to you. The more time you spend with Jesus, the more your heart will be transformed, and every good fruit will abound in your life as you grow to be like Him ☺
