I Choose Joy | Short Sermon Series

To be joyful and to be happy are different things. Happiness comes when things around you are going swimmingly, but it may not last when your circumstances change. Joy, on the other hand, still remains even when the storms of life come.

”Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.“ James 1:2-4 NIV

Joy is the courage to face anything that comes your way with a smile on your face and a steadfast trust that God takes care of you.

We will have trouble in this world, for it is broken and sinful, but we can either let the trouble bring us down, or choose to face it with joy. Through the fire, we are being refined to be more and more like Jesus – and that is a thing to be joyful about indeed!
