Peace | Short Sermon Series
As Noah sought to leave the ark after floating for 40 days and 40 nights, he sent out a bird to see if there was dry land. Eventually the bird returned with an olive leaf, indicating that the earth was recovering and life would soon be supported again.
In those immediate moments after the flood, wickedness was wiped out from the earth, and only Noah’s family remained. The world was in a period of relative peace – that is, until Noah and his family began to grow and once again, give in to the temptation of sin.
From then on, total peace has been hard to come by. In various parts of the world, wars break out from time to time and fierce fighting ensues. Beyond the larger wars, mini-wars happen more often than not with our families, friends and co-workers.
We live in a state of perpetual tension, so how can we find peace?
God gave us an eternal and tangible peace 2000 years ago. He took the form of a man, came down to Earth, and took on all our sins and the brokenness of the world in a divine exchange that would allow us to dwell in peace and safety forever.
In Jesus, we have a peace that surpasses all understanding. A peace that will last and is not dependent on our circumstances.
If you’ve been searching for such a peace, our prayer is that you would run to Jesus. Speak to Him about your burdens and lay them at His feet. Allow Him to replace the frenzied feelings in your heart with a lasting peace. He is faithful and surely, He will take such good care of you!
