Strength and Honour | Short Sermon Series
“Strength and honour are her clothing and she shall rejoice in time to come.” (Proverbs 31:25)
Do you feel uncertain about the future that lies before you? Perhaps recent times have proven challenging, and lately it has felt as if all that awaits is adversity and hardship. How can we possibly muster up the courage to face the days ahead when things begin to look bleak?
Today, we look at the Wife of Noble Character in Proverbs 31, who because she is clothed with strength and honour, can laugh at the days to come. What an amazing thing it would be to be like her! The bible tells us that when we are clothed with strength and honour, we too will have nothing to fear about what lies ahead of us.
But how can we be clothed with strength and honour? Firstly, remember that we should not rely entirely on our own strength, but to look to the Lord and His strength as well (Psalm 105:4). When we seek God in our times of difficulty, God fills us with supernatural strength — strength to tide through our season, strength to understand the trials we are being put through, and strength to rely on Him as well.
Honour, too, can come to us when we look to God. We must be reminded that we are made lovingly in God’s image, and that is where human dignity originates from. Honour is a form of self-respect, and when we truly understand our identity in Christ, can we be proud of who we are and bold to face challenges ahead unabashedly.
Will we today, pray to God to lend us His strength and for Him to remind us that we are made perfect in His image. Despite whatever adversities we are currently facing, let God clothe us with strength and honour so that when we look towards an uncertain future, we can be sure that our God is in control and we can put on a joyful outlook on our days to come!
