The Lord holds our lives tightly in His hands. He knows when we sit and when we rise - He knows every thought and every word. He is deeply involved in our lives and even in the mess of who we are, He loves us deeply.

It would do us well to remember that we are not our own - we did not form ourselves, we did not tell our cells to be assembled as they are, nor did we provide ourselves with the aptitude to do certain things. 

Life is always so unpredictable - it takes one phone call to completely upend your world. A sudden passing of a loved one, a devastating medical diagnosis, a horrible accident. In the face of such uncertainty, with very little control over our circumstances, who can we turn to? What can be our anchor?

To live life without God is to live in a form of life that lacks the peace and abundance that He desires for us.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 

As we walk closely with our loving Father, speaking with Him and communing with Him - we begin to understand His heart for the world. We see His love for humanity, and His steadfast character. He gently shares with us His plans and hopes - He shows us what breaks His heart, and what He desires for the world. 

We all have seeds of faith that have been sown by God in our hearts. Our responsibility is to tend to these seeds carefully - to nurture and grow them, to ensure that our hearts contain good soil for the seeds to grow.

When weeds of bitterness or envy spring up, we must be quick to notice them and pull them out! Lest they grow and stifle the good crop that has been growing within us.

“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 

You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 

You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 

Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. 

You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.” Psalm 139:1-5

The highest and greatest commandment hinges on this one value - love. To love our neighbours as ourselves and to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Our God is a God of love, and He has called us to be imitators of that love. 

“Let all that you do be done in love” 1 Cor 16:14

Jesus tells us who we are in Matthew 5 - “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14

As followers of Christ, we embody and bring light into the spaces that God has called us to. Through our speech and actions, we live counter culturally to the world, and when others see us, they experience the love of God through us. 

You may think that doing more for God is the way to please His heart, but God is usually more interested in how our hearts are oriented to Him, as opposed to all the activities we throw ourselves into.

Serving in as many ministries as possible, leading a cell group and inviting all your friends to church may seem like good Christian things you should be doing, but what’s more important is your heart posture as you do them. 

Why do you want to serve God? Why are you doing so much?

Every day is filled with ordinary moments—making breakfast, greeting a neighbour, sending a quick text to a friend. It’s easy to overlook these small routines, but what if these moments are actually opportunities to experience and reflect God’s love? Faith isn’t just for Sundays or big life events; it’s woven into the fabric of our daily lives. We explore how faith in everyday moments can help us see God, love others, and feel spiritually connected, even in the most ordinary routines.

How do your prayers sound like? As we interact with a holy God, it’s important to be reverent, but reverence doesn’t mean not being honest with God about the deepest cries of our hearts.
