In life, there is good success and bad success. Bad success is the kind of success you get at the expense of your personal well-being, relationships, etc, while good success sees you prosper in every area of your life.
Work has always existed and it’s purpose goes beyond providing for our earthly needs.
God’s creation of the universe is described as work. Not only was it good, but God delighted in it as well. We learn that God partners humanity in nurturing the earth in the first chapters of Genesis, and when we connect with God in our work, we are on to way to finding meaning and satisfaction in our work.
If you’re inwardly screaming “that’s me!!”, then we’re going to see how you can have a chill life and have it altogether at the same time. Even if you have kids to run after or chores piling up, and you’re thinking there’s got to be a better way to live, you’re right.
And here’s how: REST
BUT rest in this context doesn’t mean laze about for an entire day (as tempting as it sounds), but refers to a posture of resting in the Lord while doing what you need to do. But still, how do we rest?
Mental brokenness is not your ultimate identity. Broken people can still powerfully minister to others, because the condition of our fallen bodies cannot expel the Holy Spirit from our bodies. No illness or disease can reverse God’s call on you, and no man’s judgement can invalidate God’s claim on you! Who ever said you have to be perfect for God to use you anyway? God often uses the cracks in one’s life to reveal His greatness! :)
Paul speaks of a thorn in his side that he pleaded with God to remove multiple times, but God simply said that His grace is sufficient. If your thorn is a mental illness you’re struggling to cope with, here are a few truths to encourage you today!
Depression doesn’t feel like any other illnesses. It’s mental war where Christians either feel like they’re spiralling downwards, or hate themselves for feeling that way.
But as a friend or family member who may be unsure if your loved one is depressed or worried to leave them alone, what do you do?
If you are suffering from mental illness, it can be painful and you’ll wonder where God is, but hold on to this: God cares deeply for you when you are in pain. He is right there with you, just as He always has been whether you feel it or not. He will never leave you nor forsake you :)
An important part of battling depression is winning the war over our feelings. We will always have feelings and they never go away. When depression attacks, we feel like giving up, but the way we respond to it makes all the difference.
What’s the best part about Easter? The Easter egg candies? How about an Easter-themed picnic on the lush green grass? Perhaps, these novel elements spark some sort of fun and excitement in the air; after all, the resurrection of Jesus is something joyous to celebrate about. However, what brings true joy to the heart is not the Easter egg chocolates you’re chomping down on but… the good news of Easter!...
