The Thessalonian church was under heavy persecution – those who had professed their faith in Christ were having their properties seized, they were prevented from working, shunned by their families, insulted, beaten and even put to death.
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” Philippians 2:5-8
The humility of Jesus is always so striking. How can it be that our God would humble Himself to the point of leaving His throne in heaven and coming down to earth to suffer and die for our sins? It’s a radical love that should leave us speechless and on our knees in praise.

Micah 6:8 is a popular and often quoted verse, so let us dive into the context of the verse to understand its meaning a little better!

We are all in different seasons of our lives – some of us are on the mountaintops, enjoying the view, while others might be trudging through the wilderness, waiting to see a path out. Regardless of where you are at, one fact remains – God’s faithfulness is great. His mercies are new every morning, and His love endures forever.
Loving others is not an easy feat. Even the most lovable people have moments where they slip up and become hard to love. Yet God calls us to a higher standard of living and of loving. He calls us to love each other with a 1 Corinthians 13 kind of love.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

What goes through your mind when you see yourself in the mirror every morning? Do you tell yourself that you look average or not enough? If that’s the case, you are not seeing yourself the same way God sees you.
It’s often easy to attribute all of the good things we have in our lives to our own hard work or talent, be it getting full marks for a test, planning a successful event, or getting a raise at work. But before we start to praise ourselves for our amazing work ethic or our abilities, we should pause and think – where did all these good things come from? Who blessed us with these talents and abilities? Well, that would be God, of course!
“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

Joshua had led the Israelites through years in the wilderness and through conquering the promised land of Canaan. He had seen the Israelites faithfully trust and serve God, but there were also countless times where he had seen the Israelites fall away and engage in their sinful behaviours once more.
