We were created to be in communion with God, and to walk closely with Him. To journey through life without God being the most important relationship we’re investing in would be to live life with our priorities in the wrong order. 

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

We cannot expect to have a fruitful and abundant life if we’re not putting God first. If we’re not spending time with Him in worship, in word or in prayer each day, that’s akin to skipping our meals. It leaves us spiritually weak, and makes it more easy for us to fall spiritually sick - we give in to temptation and we lose our peace.

The first disciples were called to follow Jesus as they were fishing.

“And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”” Matthew 4:19

Immediately, the disciples left their nets and followed Jesus.

This was a remarkable display of faith - the disciples were leaving their livelihoods, all they had ever known to be able to sustain their lives.
